A CHIP shop owner has enjoyed his own takeaway - an award for being good at his job.
John Finney, general manager at Foodcraft in High Street, won the Manufacturer of the Year title in Vale Royal Borough Council's Foodsafe Awards.
It is the second time the chippy, which also doubles as a bakery, has claimed such an award.
"To win something like this is a real mark of quality and it's great for business," said John, 34.
John runs the shop with his dad John and brother Christopher.
It means a 7am start to ensure that everything is in place for the customers and tasting great. "The pies are really popular, we make between 100 to 130 a day and most of the time we sell them all.
"We tend to specialise with steak pies, meat and potatoe pies and hot pot as well as our fish and chips and I think that's what makes us special," said John.
"We focus on what we're good at and do it as well as we can."
