A GOOD Samaritan gave a police officer a lift in his truck in order to help him arrest a fleeing suspect.
Officers were chasing the man along Lovely Lane shortly after 8.30pm on Thursday, July 11, in relation to a domestic incident.
The offender managed to run away from police, but a member of the public intervened.
Known only as Lee, the man pulled over at the side of the road and offered an officer a lift in his black pickup truck – with the suspect ‘swiftly’ arrested after driving up the street.
Police are now hoping to trace the mystery helper to thank him for his assistance.
Police constable John Parr said: “Unfortunately, we were unable to speak to the man at the time of the incident to thank him for his assistance – which is why we are looking to trace him now.
“I urge the man, or anyone who thinks they man know his identity, to get in touch to allow us to thank him in person.
“Without his assistance it is highly likely that the suspect would have evaded arrest.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101, quoting incident number IML 453169.
