I WAS really pleased to be invited to perform and be the MC at the annual NHS Party in the Park, by organiser Joanne Harding, to celebrate the 71st birthday of our NHS.

The weather was perfect with the sun shining and Golden Hill Park, in Urmston, was full to the brim with locals coming out in force to show their thanks and support for the NHS and all those who work within it.

Val and I had a lovely day in the sunshine at this really well put together event that keeps getting better and better each year.

I always enjoy performing some Sinatra and the rat pack classics for the community. There’s nothing finer than singing to my home town and it was brilliant to see the crowd all singing along with me.

The highlight of the day for me was watching the bands Small Weller and Kingboy who were both amazing!

I’d like to thank Joanne Harding for inviting me to be a part of this special day and also thank the community for making me so welcome, see pictures right.

There are lots of new businesses opening in Stretford and I was really pleased to be invited along to the opening of the new Stretford Foodhall by the owner Mital Morar who made me very welcome and showed me around the hall.

There’s lots to see in the hall too! Mital has made great use of the space which is filled with a florist, three food vendors, a bar and a food and drink store at the rear.

There was even space for a dJ at the front who kept the ambient vibe going throughout the opening evening.

In the middle of the hall there is a seating area with booths to the side where I sat and enjoyed a freshly made pizza.

I think the Stretford Foodhall is great for Stretford and will do really well as the town keeps growing from strength to strength.

Thank you Mital for inviting me and showing me your fantastic Foodhall.

To finish I’d like to say a huge happy Wedding Anniversary to my amazing wife Val who I adore. As the Beach Boys once said, ‘God only knows what I’d be without you’.

See you all next week!
