1874 NORTHWICH will attempt to topple higher-ranked opponents when they begin another FA Cup campaign.
They were paired with Clitheroe, from the Northern Premier League’s North West Division, in a draw for the extra preliminary round published on Friday lunchtime.
A side managed jointly by Paul Bowyer and Wayne Goodison can take inspiration from reaching the third qualifying round two years ago, a run that featured wins against higher-ranked Mossley and North Ferriby United – then playing in National League North.
Northwich Victoria will have home advantage against a familiar foe in the form of North West Counties League rivals Silsden.
Coincidentally, Steve Wilkes’ side eliminated the West Yorkshire club from the FA Vase last season.
Meanwhile Winsford United will travel to Vauxhall Motors, who play in the North West Counties League’s second tier, when they will attempt to improve on a record of falling at the first hurdle in each of the past two seasons.
