DRAINAGE work at Butchers Stile is set to begin next week.
Davenham Parish Council has informed residents that work on the drainage system for Butchers Stile is imminent.
Bagleys of Knutsford will be undertaking the work over a the next three weeks.
A council spokesman said: "Each line of pipework will be trenched at 10 metre intervals and laid right down the length of the field and completed one by one so that each evening the field will be left safe for use.
"This is a necessary project to ensure the continued use of the field.
"Over the years Butchers Stile has suffered from very poor drainage rendering it unusable for weeks at a time.
"The system being installed should, over time, remedy the problem."
The field will still be useable during the drainage work, although work during the day will involve machinery being used.
