NORTHWICH River Festival is set to return again this weekend.

The event hopes to raise funds for Cheshire Without Abuse and other rotary causes by holding a weekend of activities in and around the River Weaver as part of the Northwich Festival of Arts.

We've broken down the event and all you need to know about the festival, as well as the most important information, in a handy guide.

When does it open and close?

The event runs all weekend on Saturday and Sunday with events starting as early as 9.30am and last events starting as late as 6.45pm and stalls are open all day.

Where is it?

Almost the entirety of the festival and its events take place at  Weaver Point, just next to the Odeon cinema in Barons Quay at postcode CW9 5DE, with some of the river trips departing from the Northwich Rowing club at postcode CW9 8AE.

What's on?

On Saturday there will be Dragon Boat racing between town bridge and the Odeon cinema.

On Sunday there will be scouts' races in the morning and raft racing in the afternoon, both between town bridge and the Odeon cinema as well as the famous 'Ducks on the Dane' Northwich Rotary Club charity duck race.

On both days there will be a variety of local stalls at Weaver Point, the Mid Cheshire Stand-Up Paddleboarders will be offering displays demonstrations and taster sessions. There will display and meets with the dogs from Canis Major Training team, a climbing wall will be available and river trips will be taking place throughout both days.

Getting there

There is a free car park at Barons Quay with a maximum stay of four hours or the Victoria Club car park with postcode CW9 5ER is just a five-minute walk from Weaver Point with spaces available from  20p for up to two hours, 50p for two to four hours,  £1 for four to six hours and £3 for over six hours.

Northwich Railway Station is a 20-minute walk from Weaver Point while the bus interchange is a stop for services in most surrounding areas and is only a four-minute walk away from Weaver Point.

Cost

Entry to the Northwich River Festival is free but tickets for the duck race cost £1 per duck and river trip tickets cost £6 per person.

Weather

The weather for both days of the carnival should be dry but partly cloudy and around 20 degrees celcius.
