CREWS of firefighters rescued a man in Barnton after a concrete shed roof collapsed on him.

The 50-year-old man became trapped under the heavy concrete roof yesterday, and emergency services were called at 6.08pm.

Three fire crews from Northwich, Winsford and Lymm, officers from the Major Rescue Unit, and paramedics, were sent to the address in Astbury Drive, but were amazed to find that the man was ‘largely unharmed’.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire Service said: “Three fire crews and officers from the Major Rescue Unit responded to reports of a concrete shed roof collapsing on a 50-year-old man in Astbury Drive, Barnton.

“The man was trapped but largely unharmed by the incident, and crews worked with the Major Rescue Unit to safely release him. He was passed into the care of paramedics and taken to hospital with minor injuries.”
