Anderton Boat Lift will hold its pirate festival weekend on Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, 21 following the huge success of last year's event.

It will be bringing themed displays, activities and music to the Northwich attraction for free.

The event, staged by The Pirate Brethren, UK's leading pirates, will feature working cannons, weapon displays, a pirate tavern with card and dice games and a hands-on display of pirate artefacts.

Graham Wood, duty manager at the boat lift, said: "To enjoy the day on our grassy lawns at the base of the magnificent lift, visitors simply need to bring a sense of adventure – there is no cost to enter the site or to be part of all the weekend’s activities."

"It promises to be a wonderful family day out and we welcome everyone."

The festival runs from 10am to 3.30pm both days and the boat lift is open 9.30am to 5.30pm on weekends, with free entry and a small cost for parking.

The Anderton Boat Lift in Northwich is the first successful boat lift in the county, installing a new £50,000 play area in 2017 and offering boat trips through the iconic boat lift or along the picturesque River Weaver.
