PETE Founds returns to the Isle of Man this weekend buoyed by a flawless performance in the latest round of the British F2 Sidecar Championship.
The Knutsford driver, together with passenger Jevan Walmsley, topped the time-sheet in every session during the second edition of the International Sidecar Revival at Cadwell Park, claiming pole position and a hat-trick of race wins.
They also lowered a lap record on each occasion, leaving the defending champions 65 points clear of their closest-challengers at the top of the standings.
Rivals of the Team Founds LCR Suzuki received an ominous message during qualifying when Founds and Walmsley took a tenth of a second out of a previous best circuit set almost a decade ago.
They needed only four laps of the opening race to break it officially, timing 1:37.270, before establishing a huge lead and crossing the finish-line more than 30 seconds before their nearest rival.
The duo was similarly dominant in the second race despite starting from sixth position on a partially-reversed grid, taking the lead during the early stages.
From there they cantered to another victory, but not before improving their own lap record to 1:37.223, and with it claimed the Steve Norbury Trophy.
Founds and Walmsley repeated the trick on their final outing on Sunday, climbing the order from sixth at the start and shattering a circuit best again – this time to 1:36.448.
They head next to the Southern 100 Road Races, which begin on Monday.
