PLAYERS past and present are supporting a Warrington Wolves fans' fundraiser set to be held in Spain.

The Primrose and Blue Takeover will take place in Lloret de Mar on Friday, August 2 – the evening before The Wire take on Catalans Dragons in Perpignan.

All proceeds will go towards the Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation – with a raffle, DJ and games all taking place at the Queen Vic Terrace Bar.

And former Wire heroes Joel and Michael Monaghan, current centre Ryan Atkins, Catalans star Jason Baitieri have thrown their support behind the fundraiser.

“We wanted to give something back to our community as fans of the club, and the foundation do some absolutely amazing work in the town and deserve the recognition,” said organiser Ethan Scott.

“Every year, Hull FC hold a charity event at the Queen Vic, and we thought that we could do something similar.

“I have been going over to Lloret for a while now as a stop off before Perpignan and it’s always a sea of primrose and blue, so hopefully we can get a good turnout.”

Raffle tickets will also be available to buy for those not making the journey, so every fan has the chance to support the foundation.

“We didn’t want to deprive those fans staying at home, so we are also selling tickets in the King's Head and the Tavern,” Ethan added.

“Although we haven’t done anything like this before, we think it will be a great event and hopefully the first of many.

“It’s been absolutely amazing having past and present players from both teams support the fundraiser, and we’ve had some phenomenal support from business across Warrington by donating prizes.

“To see the town get behind an event ran by the fans for our beloved club is just fantastic.”

Raffle tickets will be available for £2 from the King's Head and the Tavern, while the event at the Queen Vic Terrace Bar takes place from 3pm on the day.
