A HIGHWAYS maintenance van was involved in a fire during the resurfacing of a Lostock Gralam business park road.
Two fire crews were called to Cheshire Avenue at 11.03am today, Wednesday – one from Northwich and one from Lymm.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Shortly after 11am firefighters were called to a report of a fire involving a transit van that was resurfacing Cheshire Avenue in Lostock Gralam, Northwich.
"On arrival the crew discovered that a small bitumen drum at the back of the highways maintenance vehicle had overheated.
"Firefighters removed the gas cylinders in the van and used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and cool down the drum.
