THE sun shone on Grappenhall Walking Day as the village crowned its new rose queen.
Youngster Niamh Corley-Lewis was handed the role for this year, taking over from predecessor Millie Chadwick.
Annie Molden was crowned the rosebud for 2019, while Noah Chadwick became the first village prince – a new position created for this year.

Grappenhall Walking Day was opened with a service on the field of St Wilfrid’s School, led by the rector of St Wilfrid’s Church Rev Jane Proudfoot.
The Dobcross Youth Band then led the annual walk of witness around the village, in a tradition dating back around 180 years.
