MEMBERS of St Werburgh’s Community Hub committee have presented an Orford marathon runner with a cheque to go towards his charity fundraising efforts.

Chris Ball, who is a valued support worker at the Latchford hub, was handed the donation of £300 for MS Warrington, which was raised by the Thursday coffee morning team.

They held a charity day in support of him as he continues to raise both money and awareness for society in memory of his dad.

An avid runner, Chris is competing in a number of marathons throughout year and has already started by completing the Liverpool Rock and Roll in May.

He will also be taking on the Mizuno Endure 24 North Challenge in Leeds at the end of June, which is a 100-mile endurance event over 24-hours.

After that, he will be entering the Aintree Half Marathon in July and running from Towyn to Warrington in August.

He is also planning to compete in the Chester Marathon in October.

Frances Ireland, chairperson of St Werburgh’s Community Hub, said: “Chris is a very helpful support worker for the Community Hub and all our members were only too pleased to help him with his charity runs.

“We held a special coffee morning to support both him and his fundraising with a cake sale, raffle and tombola.

“All the members here at St Werburgh’s are very generous and we usually support three charities each year.”
