A ‘MONSTERS’ Workshop’ has been used to help Chester children to learn more about the history of a 400-year-old landmark building in the city.
Year 4 children from Chester Blue Coat Church of England Primary School visited Bishop Lloyd’s Palace in Watergate Street, the headquarters of Chester Civic Trust.
The inspiration for the workshop was the carvings of strange creatures on the frontage of the building.
The visit was planned to coincide with the celebration of Civic Day on Saturday, June 22, when civic societies across the country seek to promote a sense of civic pride among local people.
Christine Russell, who chairs Chester Civic Trust, said: "Bishop Lloyd’s Palace is one of the treasures of Chester and the Civic Trust is keen to encourage young people to explore and value the heritage of their city."
Chester Heritage Festival (June 21-29) – arranged by a partnership led by Chester Civic Trust and Cheshire West and Chester Council – has organised a wide range of activities for children at libraries, the Grosvenor Museum and other venues.
