The alert, updated around 4pm today, Wednesday, follows persistent heavy rain - with more forecast for this evening and Thursday morning.
It says that 'flooding is possible' and to 'be prepared'.
The warning said: "The River Weaver at Shrewbridge has reached flood alert level, as a result of persistent heavy rainfall.

"We believe there is a possibility of flooding to low lying land and roads around the Rivers Weaver, Ducklow and Wheelock and their tributaries.
"Rainfall has eased during the day but further heavy showers will affect the area this evening and into tomorrow morning.
"We expect river levels to remain high for the next 24 hours.
"Our incident response staff are closely monitoring weather forecasts and river levels and will issue updates if necessary.
"Please be aware of your surroundings and keep up to date with the current situation."
A warning for Station Road, Winsford, remains in force, saying 'flooding is expected - immediate action required.'
