ARRIVA is launching contactless payments on its bus services tomorrow, Sunday.

As of Sunday, June 9, Arriva passengers across Cheshire and Greater Manchester will be able to buy their bus tickets using contactless payments.

Following a multi-million pound investment across its fleet, Arriva’s contactless payment system will accommodate bank cards, and Apple and Google Pay.

Passengers will still be able to pay with cash.

Phil Cummins, Arriva Manchester MD, said: “As a business, we are constantly looking for ways to improve our customers’ journey.

"We have decided to introduce contactless as a step forward in opening up bus travel for those who do not find cash payments convenient.

“The new technology will create a faster, easier and more convenient way to pay for our customers, which in turn will help to speed up boarding time and improve the customer experience as the UK moves even closer towards being a cashless society.”

The contactless system is brought to Arriva by Ticketer ETMs.
