STAFF from a long running dental practice in Sandiway have thanked the community for 30 years of support.

McTooth LTD, in Mere Lane, opened on April 6, 1989 and in that time the members of staff have built a connection with Sandiway residents.

June Leigh, 66, receptionist, said: “I’ve been here for 30 years, I’m not surprised that the practice has been so successful for a long time but I am quite surprised that I am still here. I couldn’t stay another 30 years though.

“I love the job and I have gotten to know our patients really well as a lot of them have been regulars for years now.”

One of the aspects of her job that June enjoys the most is making an effort with patients, especially those who do not enjoy the trip to the dentist.

June said: “We do get some people who are nervous when they come in so I usually just sit and have a chat with them when they are filling out the forms to see if I can help.

"I can always tell immediately when someone comes through the door if they are nervous or not.”

Since the practice opened there have not been many changes in staff and June believes that has helped them form a close relationship with patients.

June said: “Me and Andy, the dentist, have both been here for 30 years and his children have started working here and it really does feel like a family business.

“We’ve had a really good run and we have only had three permanent changes in staff since the practice opened, one person retired and two moved away.

“I would like to thank all of the people who have supported us and continue to support us. It really does mean a lot.”

The last inspection of the practice by the Care Quality Commission was conducted in 2013 and found it was excelling in management, staffing, providing care to meet patient needs and protecting people from harm.
