RESIDENTS in Cheshire West and Chester are the best in England for recycling and being energy efficient, research as revealed.
A survey by Smart Energy GB shows that people recycle 58 per cent of their waste and 44 per cent of households have a smart meter installed.
The figures put residents in the borough at second place in Great Britain for taking steps towards a greener, cleaner future.
A new index entitled ‘Areas for a Beautiful Future’ celebrates communities for striving to be more sustainable.
Presenter Helen Skelton said: “Small actions really do add up to make a difference. By getting a smart meter you’re taking a small step towards a more sustainable future for everyone.
“It doesn’t cost you anything and is so easy to do.”
