FIREFIGHTERS were called to a field in Plumley yesterday where a combine harvester had caught fire.
Crews from Middlewich and Lymm were sent to the field in Ullard Hall lane at 12.27pm.
The large diesel-powered combine harvester was well-alight when firefighters arrived and police were called to manage traffic on the road around the fire.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire Service said: “A nearby water supply was located and a water shuttle was set up to get enough water to the area.
“Two main jets were used to tackle the fire by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus. Once the fire was out firefighters damped the affected area down to make it safe.
“They were in attendance for around an hour and 20 minutes.”
