THE Northwich branch of the Royal Air Forces Association raised the third-highest total in the north west during 2018.

The branch raised £11,951 through the year – the 10th most of any branch in the UK.

As well as donations from generous Northwich residents, branch members travelled all over Cheshire to collect.

They received a framed certificate – signed by Air Marshall Sir John Cliffe, association chairman – in recognition of their efforts to surpass £10,000.

Branch chairman Terry Gamble said: "The association would like to thank all those supermarkets and businesses for their support and also all the people of Northwich and Cheshire for their generous donations.

"As chairman of the Northwich branch I am very proud of what the branch has achieved and I would like to thank Barbara Gamble, Cyril Lewis and Frank Hurdsfield for their tremendous efforts in raising this fantastic sum as I know how many hours they put in over the year."
