AS the town gets ready for another music takeover today, we hear from some of people who have organised the Dead Dead Good Weekend and their connection to the record label and store that helped create a musical legacy.

Here's what they had to say...

Chris Mundie (Salty Dog)

Northwich Guardian:

How are you connected to the event?

"I'm the Salty Dog guy."

What made you get involved?

"Northwich is a great town, it deserves cool stuff to happen. If you don't do cool stuff all you're doing is waiting to die."

What are you most looking forward to?

"It all looks good to me, should be something for everyone, if I was pushed for a personal choice it'd be Dave Smalley, but that's because underneath my professional appearance I'm still a massive punk rock fan."

Any stand out memories?

"When I was about 14 I bought Earth AD by The Misfits from Omega Records. Opinions are divided on that record, I'm sure each reader has their own view, but I definitely hadn't heard anything like that before, sounded like it was recorded in a bin, but what a record! One thing’s for sure, you couldn't get it in Woolworths."

Tracey Oultram (MAX Design)

Northwich Guardian:

How are you connected to the event?

"Through being a serial band watcher and quiz goer at The Salty Dog and via a fateful phone call from Chris Mundie."

What made you get involved?

"Because it's cool for Northwich and because I used to work for Omega Records and Dead Dead Good around 1990 for a couple of years as part of an ad agency based around the corner from the store. Good memories and fun times."

What are you most looking forward to?

"Seeing people having a good time. Band wise Marks Radcliffe’s UNE, Glen Matlock, Earl Slick. The Snuts, Cabbage, Dave Smalley, Silent K, Empty Page, Oceans on Mars, Purpletones, Kings Pistol and the dancers and choir outside Vinnies. I’ll need to borrow Hermione Granger's Time Turner to make them all as I might be in a yellow vest helping! All the bands are quality though and amazing value ticket prices and a free cool exhibition to have a mooch."

Any stand out memories of you?

"Doing the Oceanic artwork for Insanity and being dead excited when it reached number three in the national UK charts."

Andy Wood (Zeroes Management) Former A&R (Artistes and Repertoire) at Dead Dead Good Records

Northwich Guardian:

What made you get involved?

"I got dragged into it (ha, ha!)"

What are you most looking forward to?

"Watching some incredible bands and hoping Northwich will embrace the opportunity and events."

Any stand out memories of you?

"Where do I start? The joy of a massive chart hit. Seeing your band on a huge stage at The Reading Festival. Working with the fantastic people of Omega Records and Dead Dead Good with a pride for our hometown."

Gareth Phoenix (Gentlemen’s Practice)

Northwich Guardian:

How are you connected to the event?

"I’ve looked after all the PR, social media, marketing and website design."

What made you get involved?

"A passion to grow the music scene in Northwich mainly because of the buzz created by last year’s North by Northwich. That event made me want an annual music festival to bring the town together."

What are you most looking forward to?

"All of it! But if I had to pick one event it would be the bespoke stage that we have created in one of the spare units in Baron’s Quay - Saturday is eight hours of live music for just £10."

Any stand out memories?

"I was only in my early teens during the Dead Dead Good and Omgea Records period, but I did buy my first ever CD in there which was Embrace, All You Good Good People."
