PLANS for a new bar in Grappenhall have angered residents who fear it could lead to more congestion, noise and litter.

An application to open the as yet unnamed premises at 190 Knutsford Road, close to Tesco Express and opposite what was the Dog and Dart, will be discussed by councillors on Tuesday.

Kautoman Ltd has submitted a bid for a cafe/bar to open until midnight, seven days a week, serving breakfast, light lunches and food in the evening with a selection of cocktails, gins and beers.

The application says it aims to offer a service 'not available at the moment' and will also have some outdoor tables which would be in use until 10pm.

The council's licensing committee is set to consider the application at its meeting on Tuesday morning.

But a number of neighbours have objecting saying traffic, parking, noise and litter which is already a problem would become even worse should the plans be approved.

As previously reported in the Warrington Guardian, nearby East View has become a parking problem hotspot with regular double parking from shoppers at Tesco.

One objection letter says: "Parking is often dangerous in the street with cars being double parked or being parked on

the pavements.

"The danger here is that I have witnessed families having to walk in the road with small children as they cannot access the pavements.

"I have also witnessed Warrington Borough Council refuse lorries not being able to get up East View from Knutsford Road due to how cars have been parked and then abandoned.

"Access to the front of 190 Knutsford Road is also very restricted and dangerous as more often than not Tesco customers leave Tesco car park and cut across the bottom end of East View and use the area outside 190 Knutsford Road as a quick short cut."

Another said it would be totally out of place in Grappenhall.

It added: "This is not the place for a bar and not in keeping in the slightest with this neighbourhood which since the demise of the Dog and Dart has been peaceful.

"Keep the bars to the town centre, Stockton Heath centre or Lymm centre and not to some small outlying residential area where they don’t belong and are definitely not wanted."
