VISITORS flocked to Northwich over the Bank Holiday weekend for the 2019 Easter Extravaganza.

Organised by the Northwich BID, Northwich Independent Retailers' Association, and Barons Quay, the event brought various activities to the town centre.

As well as the annual Easter egg hunt, there were donkey rides, arts and crafts, Vale Royal Falconry displays, face-painting and balloon modelling.

The turnout was boosted by the beautiful Bank Holiday weather.

BID manager Jane Hough said: “Over 19,000 people came into the town on the day to see what was going on and hopefully many of them also went into some of our amazing businesses to check out their products and services.

"We were relieved that the sun came out for us too – it wasn’t a surprise to see so many smiling faces.

“Throughout the first term of the BID over the last five years we feel as though events like this year’s Easter Extravaganza help drive footfall to the town centre and having spoken to businesses, it’s clear that these kind of events are important when it comes to attracting new customers."

Solutions 24-7 owner Michael Batey was one of those to volunteer his time on Saturday, to help with the delivery of the event.

He said: “After spending the day talking to visitors and some businesses I was blown away by how friendly, supportive and passionate people were about Northwich.

"There was a great vibe all day and everyone seemed to really enjoy what the BID and their partners had delivered.

“Hopefully businesses will say yes to a second term for the Northwich BID when they vote later this year because events like this are brilliant for the town and it would be a shame to see them come to an end if the BID doesn’t get renewed.”
