A NORTHWICH business woman is holding out for heroes as she starts a new recruitment company.

Mum-of-three Abbie McGann, from Delamere, hopes to save employers in the warehouse, logistics, distribution, and administration sectors from recruitment villains with her new venture Recruitment Heroes.

Driven by a love of problem solving and helping other people to succeed, Abbie decided to set up her own agency after working for large UK companies – sometimes recruiting teams of up to 500 people for the likes of distribution businesses such as Amazon.

The 32-year-old entrepreneur explained: “I’ve been very lucky; I’ve worked for some incredible companies but after being successful with lots of the big players in the industry over the past eight years I felt I needed to do something for me and my family.

“I’ve got three kids aged two, nine and 11 and I’m also studying for an English degree. Something just clicked one day, and I thought ‘why am I doing this for work for somebody else, when I could be doing it for us?’”

If setting up a new business and studying for a degree wasn’t enough to contend with, Abbie also runs Free Food in Warrington, a growing social media group which distributes other people’s spare food to struggling families and for which she won the Volunteer of the Year title at the 2018 Warrington Guardian Inspiration Awards.

Abbie, formerly from Grappenall, said: “I just think it’s important to help people whenever you can.

“No one makes a penny from Free Food in Warrington, but it’s not about that, it’s about helping the community.

“We’ve got a great group of volunteers and supporters who have helped to feed almost 1,000 families in and around Cheshire in the past 18 months.”

Abbie plans to continue with her altruistic endeavours alongside running her business and says that she will also offer a free CV check service for potential employees.

She added: “While Recruitment Heroes is essentially about aligning companies with the right employees, I am happy to help people where possible.

“If I can just help someone make that little difference to their CV and lands them a job, then that’s fantastic – after all it’s nice to be nice!”
