SOLICITORS Fiduciam Law is looking to open an office in a former greengrocers’ shop in Chelford.

The firm is due to open the office on the first floor of premises in Knutsford Road, which were home to Chelford Greengrocers.

Planning approval is being sought by the firm for a change of use of the first floor from residential to a solicitors’ office.

A report by town planners England Lyle Good with the planning application said Fiduciam was seeking to establish a presence in the north west as part of ongoing expansion plans.

“It is anticipated that about five staff will be employed, including solicitors, paralegals and administrative staff,” said the report.

“It is also intended that the loft space will continue to be used for residential purposes, providing overnight accommodation for visiting staff, as required.

“The proposals will secure the change of use for the first floor of the property to accommodate an established commercial law firm in the village, which will bring a small number of highly-skilled jobs and support and diversify the local economy in Chelford.”

A forecourt at the front of the property would provide parking for staff.

“The proposed car parking arrangements are considered to be entirely appropriate to serve an office use of this scale and nature,” added the report.

“Although the applicant is nonetheless seeking to agree an arrangement to use part of the car park associated with nearby businesses.”
