A SUPERCAR worth more than £130,000 was abandoned by the side of the road after careering into a street sign.
Officers came across the Audi R8 Spyder in Stretford overnight after its driver lost control and the car veered off the road.
After it crashed into a street sign for Northumberland Road, the driver fled the scene.
Police arrived soon after and the car, which sustained damage to its front end, was recovered for forensic examinations.
In a tweet last night, GMP Traffic said: "Single vehicle RTC in @GMPstretford, this Audi R8 Spyder collided with several items of street furniture after losing control and veering off the road.
"Surprisingly, the driver didn’t stick around.
"Vehicle recovered for forensic exam."
