MORE than 650 new words, senses, and subentries have been added to the Oxford English Dictionary in their latest update this year including puggle and peoplekind.

Last year saw the 90th anniversary of the completion of the first edition of the OED.

As part of the celebration they ran a series of themed appeals asking for the public's help expanding the dictionary’s coverage of language from specific contexts.

This quarter’s update includes some new entries and senses which were drafted in response to the first couple of these appeals:

the #wordswhereyouare request for regional vocabulary and the #hobbywords appeal for words associated with particular pastimes.

So whether you're about to set off on a long journey this weekend or you're at home with family, see how many of these new words you know the meaning of.
