A LONGSTANDING member of Northwich Folk Club has died, aged 64.

Ailsa Booth, who lived in Barnton for more than 20 years with husband and fellow former committee member John, died on April 12 – two and a half years after being diagnosed with cancer.

Known as a fine, ‘clear’ singer as well as an active drama and art group member, Ailsa performed at folk festivals and on local radio, as well as recording two albums with John.

The couple also delivered a show called A Musical Journey Through Time to many WI groups and other organisations.

Northwich Folk Club wrote on Facebook: “It is with great sadness the we have to let you know the news that Ailsa Booth has passed away.

“Long-time member and previous committee member Ailsa Booth passed away last Friday.

“With her husband John, Ailsa was a regular singer at Northwich over many years, singing a wide variety of songs, mostly written by John.

“Her clear voice beautifully complemented John’s songs. She will be much missed.”
