AN Easter Egg donation scheme has provided Warrington food bank with a number of chocolate gifts as part of its nationwide initiative.

The scheme, run by the Meaningful Chocolate Company since the beginning of April, allows donors to purchase eggs online for delivery to food banks across the country.

The Easter eggs donated are all Real Easter Eggs, the first and only Fairtrade chocolate egg that includes a copy of the Easter story in its box.

The Rt Revd Beverley Mason, Bishop of Warrington, said: “It is a scandal that food banks find themselves busier than ever.

“It was great to see so many Real Easter Eggs donated by churches and individuals.”

Warrington food bank is one of many Trussell Trust distribution centres around the UK, and welcomed the the bishop to the warehouse in addition to the range of donations from the Meaningful Chocolate Company.

David McDonald, project manager at Warrington food bank, said: “At the most special time in the Christian calendar we are delighted to be able to carry the Easter message in such a tasty way to the people who need our help.

“We feel that it is important that struggling parents are able to give their youngsters a treat.”

As well as an online platform for donations at realeasteregg.co.uk, the eggs can also be purchased in Tesco, Morrisons, Waitrose and Aldi stores across the UK.
