THE new Sports Direct store at Barons Quay is set to open this Friday, April 5.
Cheshire West and Chester Council has confirmed the opening date, which follows the closure of the Northwich Retail Park unit store.
The UK’s leading sporting goods retailer confirmed the move in August, saying it had outgrown its current premises.
The new store is approximately 15,000 sq ft in size, and will include the company’s fashion brand, USC.
Cllr Brian Clarke, cabinet member for economic development and infrastructure, said: “We welcome the news that another big brand, high street store is coming to Barons Quay.
“Our long-term vision has always been to create a vibrant town centre where local residents can shop, live, work and enjoy leisure time, and this latest news goes a long way towards our ultimate goal.”
A Sports Direct representative added: "We would like to thank Cheshire West and Chester Council for its support, and we look forward to having a fantastic relationship with customers at Barons Quay."
