'THIS is going to be one of the best nights of the year'.

That's the verdict of Northwich Folk Club host Pete Thompson, who is urging music lovers not to miss out on tonight's special guests – Jimmy Aldridge and Sid Goldsmith.

"To be great folk singers, you have to be great storytellers. Jimmy Aldridge and Sid Goldsmith are masters of that craft," said Pete.

"This duo are also both fine singers and multi-instrumentalists. They present a seamless mix of original and traditional songs, beautifully weighted playing and a preoccupation with profound questions of political, social and environmental concerns."

Jimmy and Sid will be supported by Cabinet of Monkeys who are Dave Ball and Neil Brookes. Dave and Neil will be playing date-related tunes and songs with fiddles, concertinas and midi-evil sounds.

"Expect to encounter Humour, Love in a Tub, Sir Sydney Smith and a New Monthly Calendar," said Pete.
