NORTHWICH firefighters tackled a 20ft-high blaze in the early hours of this morning, Sunday.

A crew from Northwich was called to the scene at 12.05am, following reports of a hedge fire.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Shortly after midnight firefighters from Northwich were called to reports of a fire on Marshall Lane, Greenbank.

"On arrival at the scene the team found one large hedge row of 20ft-high conifers which were well alight.

"The team used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and were detained at the scene for approximately half an hour."
