MOBBERLEY Guides Lucie Goulbourn and Eilidh Munro are pictured with Gandeys Circus Ringmaster Joel Hatton at a popular circus skills badge workshop.

More than 70 Beavers, Brownies and Girl Guides joined Gandeys performers for a circus skills workshop last night.

Cast members demonstrated skills including spinning plates, then answered questions from members of the 5th Knutsford Navajo Beavers, 6th Knutsford Brownies and 1st Mobberley Guides. The children then stayed to watch the opening night show.

Ringmaster Joel, who celebrated the surprise birth of daughter Aurora Romy three days ago, led the event at the Big Top on the Heath in Knutsford, which was a huge hit.

While the Beavers attended just for fun participation in the workshop will now help the Brownies and Girl Guides achieve their circus skills badges.

Joel said: “It was an honour and a pleasure to entertain such a wonderful group of excited youngsters.

“I myself have been involved with the Scouts, from being a young Beaver all the way through to becoming a young leader and I know how important activities like this are to the Scouting and Guide community.

“I hope this is something we can do much more of in the future to encourage children into enjoying live entertainment, and maybe perform themselves in a Scout or Guide gang show, something which I did for 10 years in Blackpool."

Gandeys Circus is at the Heath in Knutsford until Sunday.

On Sunday morning some of the cast will also be joining the Friends of the Heath for their annual litter pick as part of The Great British Spring Clean 2019. For show times and to book visit gandeyscircus.com
