ALL rail lines have reopened between Altrincham and Greenbank after they were closed due to an incident.
Emergency services were called to the scene this morning, with passengers warned of delays of up to three hours.
Replacement transport by Oceans Travel coaches were arranged for passengers earlier in the day. Further road transport was also sourced to start at Chester.
Northern advised customers that Metrolink had agreed ticket acceptance between Altrincham and Manchester Piccadilly in both directions.
Ticket acceptance was also in place with Transport for Wales between Manchester and Chester in both directions.
Lines reopened just after 3pm, with National Rail writing on Twitter: "The emergencys services have dealt with the incident between Plumley and Greenbank, allowing all lines to reopen.
"Train services between Altrincham and Chester are returning to normal but may still be delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised until 16:00."
