AN enthralling evening of live musical theatre and a two course meal are being served to raise funds for a long established community drama group.

Vale Royal Musical Theatre presents Songs From The Shows on Saturday, March 30 at The Alambrah in Middlewich.

Enthusiasts will be showcasing a selection of well known songs from My Fair Lady which they will be staging at Northwich Memorial Hall from July 10 to 13.

The group was formed 51 years ago and performs a panto in Winsford every year as well as a show in Northwich.

Mum-of-three Becky Benson, from Winsford, who joined the group last year, said: "We rely solely on fundraising and takings from our shows.

"We are a local society and have been around for 51 years. It is all local talented people who are in our shows.

"We always do something the whole family can enjoy.

"Everyone is so welcoming and lovely, I've really enjoyed being part of this group."

Becky plays flower girl Eliza Doolittle in the forthcoming My Fair Lady who blossoms into a high London society lady with help from professor Henry Higgens.

Three much loved songs from the show Wouldn't It Be Loverly, On The Streets Where You Live and I'm Getting Married In The Morning will be performed as a taster to the summer show.

Classics from other productions including South Pacific, 9 to 5 The Musical, Bad Girls and Wicked will also be included in the show, followed by a disco and karaoke.

Members are busy rehearsing for the charity night.
