A DAVENHAM couple have raised more than £5,000 for a Parkinson’s charity after completing a 10km race.
Husband and wife team Ed and Olivia Lowe soldiered on through the wind, rain and mud at to cross the line at the Tatton 10k on Sunday, March 10.
The couple, who have two children aged seven and five, decided to take on the challenge after Ed, who is 42, was diagnosed with Early Onset Parkinson’s Disease – something he describes as ‘frustrating’.
A keen sportsman and a junior coach at Winnington Park Rugby Club, Ed and wife Olivia decided that taking part in the run was the best way to raise awareness that the condition – commonly seen as ailing older people – can affect anyone.
They also set out to raise money for research into combatting the disease, and have – with Gift Aid contributions – raised more than £5,000.
Both Ed and Olivia crossed the line with a time of one hour and six minutes.
