A CARE home has launched a creative initiative to raise funds for a dementia charity.

Lostock Lodge Care Home is asking people in the community to knit 'dementia angels' to be sold for a fundraiser.

The finished products can be dropped off at the Cheshire Business Park home, with money raised to be split between Dementia UK and the care home residents' Comfort Fund, which funds extra trips out and special events.

The angels have been designed with blue wings – is a colour associated with dementia and memory loss.

They are on sale at the home for £3.50 each. As a thank you, anyone donating an angel is invited to have a cup of tea or coffee and cake when they come into the home to drop them off.

So far the angels have raised £90, with knitters from the church, Women’s Institute and shops all contributing.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the response to our Dementia Angels,” said Katy Viner, customer relations manager at Lostock Lodge.

"We’ve had such a great response from all sorts of community groups as well as family members and friends at our home."
