BOCCIA champions are celebrating victory after winning five gold medals!

Two teams from Hebden Green Community School in Winsford have won the Cheshire and Warrington Boccia finals, beating the best in the north of England.

Both teams won gold after competing in the first Vale Royal qualifying round at St Nicholas High School in Northwich.

Players then took part in the county qualifier at Manchester Metropolitan University Campus in Crewe, where they both won gold medals again.

After competing at the regional qualifier at Greenbank Sports Academy in Liverpool, one of the teams was awarded gold.

The jubilant team is now preparing for the national final at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield on April 30.

One of the players said: "I was honoured to be chosen for the team and to have the experience of going to different places and meeting pupils from different schools."

Another added: "It was a pleasure to represent my team in all the rounds and I feel honoured to play with them in the national finals."

One player said:"We tried really hard and we have succeeded so far. We hope we can succeed further."

Another team member added: "It's been a great experience and we are proud one of our teams is going to the final."
