THERE will be no train services on the Mid Cheshire Line for the next two Sundays, due to major Network Rail engineering works on the line.

On Sunday, March 17 and Sunday, March 24, Northern will operate seven rail replacement bus services at all stations between Chester and Stockport in both directions.

Passengers can connect at Stockport for trains into Manchester Piccadilly. The Metrolink will not run between Altrincham and Timperley on Sunday, March 17.

John Oates, chairman of Mid Cheshire Rail Users Association (MCRUA) said: “There is never a good time to carry out essential engineering work but sorting this vital work on a Sunday inconveniences fewer passengers than on other days.

“If you are travelling, MCRUA would like to remind passengers to check the bus replacement timetables carefully on the National Rail Journey Planner and to make sure you know where the bus replacement service departs from at your local station.

“Travelling by bus will take longer and remember, non-folding bicycles are not allowed on the bus services.

“Our advice is not to travel unless you have to as your journey will take longer than normal.”
