A COUNCILLOR has asked for clarity on overnight parking regulations in Northwich town centre.

Since November, when Cheshire West and Chester Council parking charges were brought in at some car parks in Northwich, some motorists have found it difficult to pay to leave their cars overnight.

Charges cease at 6pm and resume at 8am, and - if you are unable to collect your car by 8am the following day - the council's advice is to buy a series of tickets to cover the time period.

However, councillors said this was not made clear and had led to confusion, with some drivers ticketed after arriving late to collect their vehicles.

At a Northwich Town Council meeting, Cllr Mitch Rowley said to fellow members: "I can't for the life of me understand why they have parking charges starting at 8am in a town geared up for an evening nightlife."

As well as suggesting charges begin at 10am, he asked whether CWAC could make the correct approach more clear.
