Sale Ladies 2nd 4-0 Knutsford Ladies

KNUTSFORD rewarded Olivia Hope with a debut at Sale after she impressed during training.

The home team established control during the early stages though when they scored twice following fine approach play by their midfield.

There was a blow for the visitors too before the interval when Katie Welch succumbed to an injury that left them with only 10 players for the game’s remainder.

However a tactical switch during the interval by coach Hadrian Caldwell made them more compact in defence and they restricted their opponents’ chances to score.

Sale did though double their tally before the final whistle, an outcome Knutsford – for whom goalkeeper Lucy White was again an outstanding performer – could take some comfort from given the circumstances.

They hope to make the most of an opportunity to climb off the bottom of the table when Bebington visit Westfield Drive on Saturday.

Push-back is at midday.
