Brooklands MU 3rd 3-3 Knutsford

GRAEME Wolfenden’s leveller secured for Knutsford a draw from a match they had twice led.

A trademark drag-flick against his former club, who edged in front after scoring twice in quick succession shortly after the interval, keeps alive the Black Knights’ hopes of being promoted.

They trail Preston seconds, their hosts on Saturday, by four points with as many matches left.

Knutsford broke through inside five minutes last weekend when Danny Butterworth ran unchallenged down the right before his accurate pass invited Cameron Geimer to apply a neat finish at the back post.

He almost turned provider when the visitors next attacked but Wolfenden could not convert after his teammate had broken into the circle.

Brooklands equalised after one of their players was left unattended in the D and he dispatched the ball past goalkeeper Tom Wright.

Knutsford responded though and moved in front again when Matt Kennerley-Ryan lifted a cute finish over the hosts’ net-minder.

The home team were gifted a second goal when Ben Greenwood deftly deflected the ball into his own net and then quickly moved ahead at 3-2.

Knutsford demonstrated their resilience though to take a share of the spoils when Wolfenden’s strike restored parity.

His side stay third in the North Men’s League’s Division Two West as a result.

Push-back against Preston is at 1.30pm.
