AN Oscar evening is being held to recognise the achievements of local people in Winsford.

Town Mayor Cllr Gina Lewis will be hosting the annual event at Winsford Lifestyle Centre on Friday, March 22.

Residents are asked to nominate people they feel should be honoured in 10 different categories.

Cllr Lewis feels passionately that Winsford is a great place to live and work and wants to use the evening not only recognise unsung heroes but to help raise the profile of the town and highlight the many opportunities that Winsford has to offer.

The mayor is inviting local companies or organisations to consider sponsoring an award.

In return for £250 sponsorship, an organisation will be able to lend its name to the award.

A representative of the sponsor will also have the opportunity to present the award.

Cllr Lewis is keen to recognise not only new award winners but those who have already been recognised elsewhere.

The mayor wishes to bring together residents whose efforts or achievements have brought credit to the town.

Proceeds from the evening will go to the mayor’s chosen charities,Winsford Royal British Legion and the Alzheimer’s Society.
