RUDHEATH Senior Academy's new headteacher has outlined ambitious plans to ensure the school reaches its 'great potential'.

Ana Roslan has taken the reins at the Shipbrook Road school, following the departure of Cath Green before half term.

The school – formerly the University of Chester Academy Northwich (UCAN) – became part of the North West Academies Trust in November.

Ms Roslan, who has four years' experience at the school, has been appointed to lead a far-reaching improvement plan aimed at raising standards and providing the best possible all-round education.

Ms Roslan said: “I am really excited to have the opportunity to work with staff and the community to make this a great school for all children where we put the learner at the centre.

“We’ve had some turbulent times but, despite the difficulties, we have made significant progress in the four years that I have been here.

“And I’ve no doubt we are now in a position to make even greater strides.

“This is a fabulous school with great potential, our pupils deserve the best possible education that prepares them for success as they go out into the world. That is exactly what I intend to happen – I am very excited for the future.”

Prior to the changeover of trusts, UCAN received a 'good' Ofsted rating in January 2018, before a devastating arson attack gutted the school the following month, heavily impacting exam preparation.

NWAT took over in November, with a proven track record of improving schools.

Oak View Academy in Winsford was the second worst primary in the country in 2014 but is now rated ‘good’ by Ofsted, and other west Cheshire schools within the trust include 'outstanding' St Martin’s Academy, Chester, and Delamere Academy – the highest performing primary in the borough.

Steve Docking, CEO of NWAT, said: “We want the best possible education for children at Rudheath and this is at the heart of everything we do.

“Our plans are ambitious, but we know that we have the drive and determination to make them happen.”
