TELEVISION stars hunting for hidden treasures made a profit from antiques found in Northwich.

Celebrity Antiques Road Trip visited Northwich Antiques and Collectables in Barnton on Bank Holiday Monday last year.

Viewers only found out that their gems had raised money for BBC Children in Need as the BBC2 programme has just been screened.

Celebrity James Braxton and Under The Hammer TV presenter Martel Maxwell bought a silver tray, an Indian silver box and a miniature brass piano from dealers at the Runcorn Road emporium.

“It gave us a bit of excitement,” said Julie Critchley, who has been running the antique business with her husband Peter for 10 years.

“We have thousands of items coming in. You never know what you might find.”
