Two young boys have amazed their mum after asking Santa and relatives not to give them toys this Christmas.

Brothers Monty and Archie Brown, aged eight and nine, want people to donate to the charity Right To Play instead.

More than £500 has already been raised through their JustGiving page.

Right To Play helps children struggling from poverty, disease and war and offers them a chance to get involved in games, sport and the arts.

Proud mum, Frances, explained how the idea was inspired.

"We were talking about writing their lists and I looked around and saw that they have so much stuff," she told News Shopper.

"I said why don’t we ask everyone who would normally buy them toys, like grandparents and aunties and uncles, to donate to the charity rather than buying them more.

"I was shocked because they just went for it. We watched the Right To Play charity video and they are aware other children don’t have what they have.

"They were really enthusiastic."

Frances said it was a nice feeling for a parent to know their kids appreciate everything they have.

She did add that Santa may decide to leave a present in the boy’s stockings as a thank you.

On the fundraising the page, the brothers said: "We are two very lucky boys who have plenty of toys.

"This year we would like to ask anyone who would usually buy us something for Christmas to donate to Right To Play instead to ensure other children who find it hard to find somewhere safe to play have the opportunity that we take for granted every day."
