Littleborough Ladies 47-10 Winnington Park Ladies
WINNINGTON Park were closer to their opponents on Sunday than the score-line suggests but not near enough to avoid exiting the RFU Women’s Junior Cup.
The visitors trailed 19-0 before Abby Riley-Bessant crossed for a try that went unconverted.
Park enjoyed their best spell during the early stages of the second-half, when they dominated possession, but they were kept at bay by a resilient defence.
Hanna Lydiate did notch a second score for the Northwich side when she collected a clearance kick before returning it for a try out wide.
Littleborough, rivals for Winnington in the RFU Women’s National Challenge North Two West, made effective substitutions to wrestle back control again and ran in three more tries before the final whistle to complete the scoring.
Their reward is to progress to the competition’s national stage.
