Sutton’s top primary schools for pupils meeting their expected educational standards have been revealed by the Government.

Figures published by the Department for Education, on December 14, show schools’ overall performances at the end of Key Stage 2 in 2018.

Students are meeting the expected standard if they achieve a scaled score of 100 or more in their reading and math tests, while their teacher assesses them as “working at the expected standard or better” in writing.

A pupil’s scaled score is based on their raw score, which is the total number of marks one gets in a test and based on the number of questions they answer correctly.

Examinations are developed each year to the same specification but, because the questions differ, their difficulty may change.

This means the raw numbers must be converted into scales scores so “accurate comparisons” can be made over time.

Scores will usually fall between 80, the lowest, and 120, the highest, with 100 being the expected standard.
