A 69-year-old man has proved anything is possible after dropping five stone in just nine months.

Graham Reeves, an author from Cameron Road, wanted to finally make a change to improve his health.

He has been going to nearby Calso Health & Fitness Club in Bromley Common for 20 years but only recently started taking it seriously.

"I am getting older and I realised I needed to do this for health reasons," Graham told News Shopper.

"I had no idea I would lose this much when I started. Previously I was going through the motions at the gym and was only visiting once a week.

"I wasn’t making any effort and thought once a week was better than nothing."

Graham now weighs under 12 stone after being 17 stone when he adopted his new lifestyle.

Despite only planning to lose around 12 kgs, he said "calorie awareness" was crucial to the transformation.

Gary Nicholas, director of Calso Health & Fitness, was also praised for his part.

"The gym and Gary were so important," Graham said. "His encouragement was key. He explained everything and set me targets when I was reluctant to be ambitious."

Graham said his medication has now reduced thanks to his better blood pressure and he now feels fitter, stronger and more mobile.

He is now aiming to stay at 12 stone or under and to continue his visits to the gym three or four times a week.
