An upset pensioner says she was made to feel like a "nuisance" after collapsing inside a Post Office in Petts Wood.

Georgie de la Nougerede, 69, went to the Post Office in Fairway on Monday (December 10) after a doctor’s visit.

The asthmatic woman asked the worker who was stamping her parcels for help because she was suddenly beginning to feel dizzy.

"She ignored me," Georgie told News Shopper. "She just carried on with the parcels. That's when all hell broke loose.

"I passed out and nutted the counter. I cut my nose on it when I went down."

She then remembers opening her eyes to a fellow customer telling her to remain still because she was bleeding badly.

According to Georgie, the two women behind the counter said they had nothing to put under her head before continuing to serve others in line.

A concerned customer helped Georgie phone an ambulance, which arrived shortly after.

Georgie said: "You wouldn’t treat a dog like that. They didn’t make eye contact with me when I was lying on the floor.

"They had no accident book or first aid kit. The only time they came around the counter was to tidy the rack I was leaning on.

"I am nearly 70 and I was quite disgusted. Treat people how you want to be treated in life."

She added that she will never return to the branch again.

Georgie, who remains a bit sore but is recovering well, has written to the Post Office which has not yet responded.

A spokesman for Post Office told News Shopper: "We are very sorry to hear about the accident which occurred at Petts Wood Post Office and we hope the customer is making a swift recovery.

"We would like to apologise to the customer if she felt the staff at Petts Wood Post Office did not assist her appropriately. We are discussing this with the branch.

"They have reassured us that they did assist in calling for an ambulance and are grateful to the customers who offered assistance."
